During the well testing process, the emergency shutdown system is designed to minimize the consequences of emergency situations, like pipe leaking or busting, breaking, fire,or similar emergency by controlling the surface safety valve on the flow head and permitting manual or remote closure. It ensures the safe and effective shutdown of all operations in a controlled manner. The ESD system is also used to reopen the valve and, if needed, can control an additional surface safety valve upstream of the choke.
